Born of a need for collaboration and communication, our founders met in September 1925 at the State Capitol to establish the NJ Federation of Shade Tree Commissions. This first Annual Meeting sparked the creation of the Federation, one of the oldest and dedicated tree-centric organizations in the USA.
This year, 2025, the New Jersey Shade Tree Federation proudly celebrates our 100th anniversary.
The New Jersey Shade Tree Federation is a non-profit organization assisting individuals and agencies entrusted with the selection, planting, and care of trees.
Our goal is to improve the status of our profession and establish liaisons between allied associations, businesses, and federal, state, municipal governments, in order to provide tree-lined streets for future generations.
The New Jersey Shade Tree Federation Annual Conference is the place to be for education and networking. Speakers include nationally recognized scientific professionals, college professors, and industry tree experts.
In between Annual Conferences, members stay in the loop with our bi-monthly newsletter The Shade Tree and get to tree-talking with us via our quarterly Tree Talk Zooms.
